Dagens Nyheter Får Ännu ett Skäl Att Solidarisera Sig Med Israel
DN:s liberaler som håller till på ledarsidan får nu ännu ett argument att förakta palestinierna nu när Byggnads stöder Ship To Gaza, med både pengar och officiellt stöd.
Tänk er Hanne Kjöller, Lisa Bjurwald, Peter Wolodarski och Niklas Ekdals miner när de får veta detta. För även om man hyser akut empatibrist när det kommer till palestinier och såna som misshandlas och till och med mördas för sin solidaritet med ett ockuperat, belägrat och etniskt rensat folk, så hatar man i varje fall facket och framförallt Byggnads.
Israel! Era vänner på DN är nu ännu mer på er sida. De har hittat ännu ett skäl. Ska vi gissa att de säger något fyndigt typ: "Go home!"
Annars har det varit plågsamt intressant att följa den israeliska propagandan. Inte ens USA skulle våga ösa ut så här mycket lögner och hat för att försvara mord.
Mitt i allt detta är frågan: kommer blockaden att fortsätta? En blockad som har kostat palestinierna erhört mycket i fråga om framtiden. Tanken var enligt Israel själva att sätta palestinierna på en diet men inte låta de dö av hunger. Vilken fin tanke, va? Detta liberala mönsterland har totalförstört palestiniernas ekonomi. Man har hållit tillbaka medicinier, byggmaterial, skolböcker och kollektivt bestraffat en befolkning där majoriteten är barn. Och Israel säger sig vilja ha fred? Innan man startade sitt viriga krig i slutet av 2008 levde cirka 70 % av familjerna i Gaza på mindre än en dollar om dagen. 10,2 % av människorna var undernärda och nästan 70 % av de unga var arbetslösa. Israel kallar sig moraliskt. Sin armé den mest moraliska. (En myt som borde ha varit död och begraven sedan länge. Läs detta till exempel. Det må vara olikt andra israeliska våldsövergrepp, men det är ändå inget nytt.)
Båten som man själva attackerade på internationellt vatten blev ett blodbad men de israeliska soldaterna agerade i självförsvar. En 19-årig man blev skjuten fem gånger. 4 gånger i huvudet. Han måste ha varit en farlig ung man som måste dö flera gånger.
Det är som om Orwell skrivit manuset "Israel".
Ingenting Israel säger är trovärdigt. Ändå beter sig svenska liberaler ofta som om de vore ekon av den mest korkade israeliska propagandan. Och blir man dödad av israel dör man ofta två gånger. Först dödar de dig, sen dödar de ditt namn, ditt rykte.
Israel är en galen stat som Norman Finkelstein säger. En stat inte värt annat än förakt för allt hat och all rasism, alltså även anti-semitism, och allt mänskligt lidande den skapar.
Jo, förresten, det är en stat värd en bojkott.

Om den etniska rensningen av palestinier håller man helt enkelt käften. Så länge det som sker enbart är olika former av övergrepp mot palestinierna ser man inga som helst skäl till att diskutera eller till att bli upprörda. Om vissa saker må vi berätta. Sionism Och Rasism.
Rasismen i Israel tilltar. Det handlar inte bara om enstaka förvirrade individer som i ord uttrycker den vidrigaste formen av rasism och som blir filmade på kamera och utvalda att vara med. Det handlar om alla dessa små tecken. 79 % av israelerna stödde massmordet på palestinierna i vintras och ansåg att det var en lyckad operation som inte behöver utredas vidare, ur ett rent etiskt och moraliskt perspektiv. Man ansåg att bombarderandet av ett ghettofängelse där mer än 50 % av invånarna är under 15 år var berättigat. Det faktum att palestinierna i Gaza förvägras rätten att livnära sig själva är en kollektiv bestraffning vars rättfärdigande bygger på rasistiska antaganden. Palestinier som försöker fiska på palestinskt vatten, för att livnära sig själva och sina familjer, blir bordade och kidnappade av Israel. Vi har uppemot 11 000 palestinier i Israeliska fängelser, flera hundra av dessa sitter utan att ha fått någon som helst form av rättegång och utan att få veta hur länge de ska sitta. Över 350 av dessa är barn. Men kan ni namnet på någon fånge i den här regionen är det Gilad Shalit, den tillfångatagna israeliska ockupationssoldaten. De palestinska fångarna råkar dessutom ut för övergrepp av fångvaktarna.
Där finns den tydliga segregationen i Israel, där israeliska familjer inte vill ha palestinier (araber i deras munnar) på dagis, eller palestinska barn som förbjuds spela och lyssna på arabisk musik på läger. Vi har sett förslag på hur palestinierna skall förbjudas att få tala om Nakba. Men hur palestinierna själva ska tvingas erkänna Israels rätt att fördriva palestinier för att få en stat. Vi ser hur palestinska hus rivs för att de är olagliga, medan bosättare får bygga, och ta över palestinska ägor. Vi vet hur det finns mark i Israel som bara är till för judar. Vi ser hur man bygger exklusiva vägar för judar. Att påstå att sådant här inte skulle vara rasistiskt är att göra intellektuella vurpor av rang. I sann kolonial anda väljer sedan kolonialmakten en part att förhandla med, samtidigt som internationell kolonialmedia väljer att blunda för sådant, vilket lägger grogrunden för interna våldsamheter och korruption.
Det här är ideologiskt skapad rasism. En rasism som är olycklig, dels för att den i grund och botten är en europeisk skapelse, men framförallt för att den är så hastigt konstgjord. Även om all rasism är onödig och olycklig, så finns det också något konstgjort i det. Rasismen framkallas av olika skäl. För sionismen är den dubbel: sionismen själv existerar delvis på grund av rasism, men skapar i sin tur dels nya vågor av anti-semitism men även rasism gentemot araber och palestinier. (Samtidigt måste man erkänna att rasismen och anti-semitismen kan se olika ut. Antipatierna mot judarna skiljer sig åt, liksom anti-patierna mot palestinierna, det finns inte en känslomässig anti-semitism, vars utlopp ser likadan ut överallt. Winston Churchill och Hitler var inte samma typ av anti-semiter. Eller dagens Abbas och nynazisten.)
Så rasismen i Israel är oundviklig på grund av sionismen. Men inte på grund av judarna eller judendomen (eller palestinierna och islam). Det här är en viktig åtskillnad som måste göras, betonas och om och om igen upprepas. Det betyder dock att rasismen kan motverkas. Det här är dock vanskligt. Sionism är som ofta påpekas faktiskt ett kodord som används i rent anti-semitiskt syfte. När man talar om sionism måste man inte vara naiv, utan intellektuellt hederlig och tydlig. Så vad vill vi ha för värld? Vad tror vi själva om oss människor, som människor? Är vi kapabla till att bygga en värld utan rasistiska antaganden? Jag tror att det går och är övertygad om att det är nödvändigt, vi slösar på mänskligt potential, och på mänskliga liv annars. För det måste inte bara murar rivas, snarare än resas, utan sionismen som sådan måste troligen rivas, idag bevaras den genom att ständigt måla ut palestinier och araber som fiender. Det kommer naturligtvis inte att riva all världens rasism, eller ens all rasism i den här regionen. Men det är nödvändiga steg att ta.

Tre Viktiga Artiklar Om Israel/Palestina Som Kräver Empati Och Läsförståelse (Inget För Rabiata Israelvänner)
Först ut är Jonathan Cook om ett tilltagande förakt för palestinierna och dess historia i Israel:
Officials announced last week that they were sending out special “national anthem kits” to 8,000 schools, including those in the separate Arab education system, in time for the start of the new academic year in September. The kits have been designed to be suitable for all age groups and for use across the curriculum, from civics and history classes to music and literature lessons.
The anthem, known as Ha-Tikva, or The Hope, has long been unpopular with Israel’s Arab minority because its lyrics refer only to a Jewish historical connection to the land.
Mr Saar’s initiative is widely seen among Israel’s 1.3 million Arab citizens as a further indication of the rising nationalistic tide sweeping policymakers. Last week the ministry also announced that textbooks recently issued to Arab schoolchildren would have expunged the word “nakba”, or catastrophe, to describe the Palestinians’ dispossession at Israel’s founding in 1948.

This disparity in the attributes of statehood is part of a much larger imbalance in the international community perception of, and attitude towards, Israel and Palestine...
...The Zionist movement appeared in central and eastern Europe in the late nineteenth century as a movement propelled by two noble impulses. The first was a search by Jewish political leaders for a safe haven for a community that was exposed increasingly to a hostile environment and anti-Semitic ideologies and which had the potential in escalating to something worse - as indeed it did in the genocide of the European Jews in the Second World War. The second impulse was a wish to redefine Judaism, the religion, in a new secular form, inspired by the spring of nations around them when so many cultural, religious and ethnic groups redefined themselves in the new intoxicating way of nationalism. As mentioned the search for security and new self determination was noble and normal at the time. However, the moment these impulses were territorialized, namely gravitated towards a specific piece of land, the national project of Zionism became a colonialist one.

Allt Palestinierna Gör Kan Tolkas Som Terrorism
Armed Israeli police last night tried to halt the opening night of a prominent Palestinian literary festival in Jerusalem when they ordered a Palestinian theatre to close.
Henning Mankell var där och uppmanade människorna att inte förlora hoppet och jämförde med apartheidtiden i Sydafrika.
Bevisen staplas på rad. Skuldbördan växer. Västvärldens samlade liberalers tystnad allt pinsammare. Har Hamas ägnat sig åt terrorism tidigare? Ja. Begår de våld mot civila? Ja. Har Hamas haft anti-semitiska slagord och texter? Ja. Men hur ska vägen ut ske, om allt palestinierna gör tolkas som terrorism eller anti-semitism.

Angående Israel och Rasism: Ett Brev Från En Anti-Apartheidkämpe
My dear Palestinian brothers and sisters, I have come to your land and I have recognized shades of my own. My land was once one where some people imagined that they could build their security on the insecurity of others. They claimed that their lighter skin and European origins gave them the right to dispossess those of a darker skin who lived in the land for thousands of years. I come from a land where a group of people, the Afrikaners, were genuinely hurt by the British. The British despised them and placed many of them into concentration camps. Nearly a sixth of their population perished.
Then the Afrikaners said, ‘Never again!’. And they meant that never again will harm come unto them with no regard to how their own humanity was tied to that of others. In their hurt they developed an understanding of being’s God chosen people destined to inhabit a Promised Land. And thus they occupied the land, other people’s land, and they built their security on the insecurity of black people. Later they united with the children of their former enemies – now called “the English”. The new allies, known simply as ‘whites’, pitted themselves against the blacks who were forced to pay the terrible price of dispossession, exploitation and marginalization as a result of a combination of white racism, Afrikaner fears and ideas of chosenness. And, of course, there was the ancient crime of simple greed.

Ethnic cleansing was the basis of a "racist peace" where Zionist terrorists drove out two thirds of the Palestinian population from their homes. Its logic was that expulsion would end strife between Zionists and Palestinians (by eliminating one side) enabling the Zionists to enjoy peace in an ethnic Jewish haven. The Palestinians, stubborn as they were, refused a racist Zionist state as the basis for "peace."
Israels uppenbara rasism kommer bli deras fall. Hoppet måste stå till ett land, öppet för alla religioner.

Varför begreppet apartheid är applicerbart på Israel:
The analysis of Israel as an apartheid state has proven to be very important in several respects. First, it correctly highlights racial discrimination as a root cause of Israel's oppression of Palestinians. Second, one of the main effects of Israeli apartheid is that it has separated Palestinians -- conceptually, legally and physically -- into different groupings (refugees, West Bank, Gaza, within the "green line" and a host of other divisions within each), resulting in the fragmentation of the Palestinian liberation movement, including the solidarity movement. The apartheid analysis enables us to provide a legal and conceptual framework under which we can understand, convey and take action in support of the Palestinian people and their struggle as a unified whole. Third, and of particular significance to the solidarity movement, this legal and conceptual framework takes on the prescriptive role underpinning the growing global movement for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel until it complies with international law.

The Palestinian people's fate clearly reflects that of South Africa's indigenous majority during the colonial wars of dispossession of land and property, and the harsh discrimination and suffering of the apartheid period classified as a crime against humanity and violation of international humanitarian law. Israel is as guilty as the Apartheid regime. Israel's conquest and occupation, with the latest land grab caused by its monstrous Apartheid Wall and continued construction of the illegal settlements has reduced the West Bank into several disconnected pockets amounting to 12 percent of former Palestine. No wonder that Jimmy Carter, Archbishop Tutu and others compare the situation to Apartheid and the infamous Bantustans -- which gave 13 percent of land for South Africa's indigenous people.

Gaza has again been the focus of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). In response to the capture of Corporal Gilad Shalit by Palestinian militants on 25 June 2006, and the continued firing of Qassam rockets into Israel, Israel conducted two major military operations within Gaza -“Operation Summer Rains” and “Operation Autumn Clouds”. In the course of these operations, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) made repeated military incursions into Gaza, accompanied by heavy artillery shelling and air-to-surface missile attacks. Missiles, shells and bulldozers destroyed or damaged homes, schools, hospitals, mosques, public buildings, bridges, water pipelines and electricity networks. Agricultural lands were levelled by bulldozers. Beit Hanoun was the subject of particularly heavy attacks, and on 8 November 19 civilians were killed and 55 wounded in an artillery attack. Economic sanctions have had a major impact on Gaza. About 70 per cent of Gaza’s workforce is out of work or without pay and over 80 per cent of the population live below the official poverty line. The siege of Gaza is a form of collective
punishment in violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 12 August 1949. The indiscriminate use of military power against civilians and civilian targets has resulted in serious war crimes.
The West Bank has also experienced serious human rights violations resulting from
frequent military incursions; the construction of the Wall; house demolitions and checkpoints.
Over 500 checkpoints and roadblocks obstruct freedom of movement within the OPT. The Wall being built in East Jerusalem is an instrument of social engineering designed to achieve the Judaization of Jerusalem by reducing the number of Palestinians in the city.
The construction of settlements continues. Today there are some 460,000 settlers in the
West Bank and East Jerusalem. A study by an Israeli non-governmental organization (NGO) has shown that nearly 40 per cent of the land occupied by settlements in the West Bank is privately owned by Palestinians. It has become abundantly clear that the Wall and checkpoints are principally aimed at advancing the safety, convenience and comfort of settlers. There are some 9,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. There are serious complaints about the treatment, trial and imprisonment of prisoners.
Since 2000, over 500 persons have been killed in targeted assassinations, including a
substantial number of innocent civilians. In December 2006 the Israeli High Court failed to find that such assassinations were unlawful but held that they might only be carried out as a last resort and within the bounds of proportionality.
Israeli law and practice makes it impossible for thousands of Palestinian families to live
together. A new practice of refusing visas to foreign residents in the OPT has aggravated this
situation.
Discrimination against Palestinians occurs in many fields. Moreover, the 1973 International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid appears to be violated by many practices, particularly those denying freedom of movement to Palestinians.

Amazon.com och Jimmy Carter
När Amazon.com ska sälja Jimmy Carters bok Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid, gör man sitt absolut bästa för att inte sälja boken. Man använder sig för ovanlighetens skull av en recension som är oerhört kritisk mot Carters bok. Recensenten i sin tur är både US-amerikansk och Israelisk medborgare och har varit aktiv i IDF.
Undrar varför de inte låter palestinier recensera böcker om mellanösternkonflikten i tidningar som New York Times eller Washington Post. Ett mysterium, verkligen. (Om de skulle få, lär de självcensurera sig så att ingenting av de själva återstår.)
Och i Sverige är tystnaden fortfarande kompakt om boken och den kontrovers den skapat i USA. Eller har jag missat något?

Demokrati Nu!
På sidan Democracy Now! dyker det alltid upp intressanta intervjuer och debatter. I en debatt om Jimmy Carters bok med ett provokativt ord med i titeln, Apartheid, så diskuterar två historiker med olika utgångspunkter. (Fortfarande har ingen DN-liberal nämnt boken, trots att den rört upp en så pass hetsig debatt i USA. Antar att det är bäst att ignorera alltihop eftersom man ändå gillar Carter lite grann.)
Gil Troy som ogillar Carters bok, säger bland annat att Carter har spelat ut sin roll som medlare med boken. Han säger också att det är som historiker, en falsk analogi att kalla Israel för en apartheidstat. Finkelstein i sin tur pekar på faktorer som att man även i delar av det politiska och mediala Israel kallar Israels agerande som typiskt för en apartheidstat. Gil Troy påstår också att den öppna diskussionen och det öppna debattklimatet är mycket större i Israel och i USA än på de palestinska områdena, där den politiska kulturen är mer våldsam än verbal. Han säger även att palestinierna inte tog emot det "generösa erbjudandet under Camp David". Detta protesterar Finkelstein kraftigt emot och hänvisar till något som även en tidigare utrikesminister, tillika historiker, Shlomo Ben- Ami (som även har dykt upp på DN:s ledarsida) har sagt: att om jag varit palestinier så hade jag avböjt erbjudandet.

...Och På Frågan Om Det Är Apartheid Svarar Vi: Ja!
Är detta apartheid? Är fem myror fler än fyra elefanter? Är påven katolik?
En man blir fråntagen sin bil, mannen blir bortsänd, en soldat får frågan varför och får svaret: "Det är en order. Det är en väg enbart för judar."
...Och på frågan om det finns någon skylt som förklarar detta för folk svaras det:
"It is his responsibility to know it, and besides, what do you want us to do, put up a sign here and let some antisemitic reporter or journalist take a photo so he that can show the world that Apartheid exists here?"
