Tvåstatslösning? Vems tvåstatslösning?

Amira Hass i Haaretz om en speciell taktik: Det är etnisk rensning via utnötning. Står ni ut? Vi tänker fortsätta jävlas med er! Vi tänker inte sluta! Vi kommer fortsätta att trakassera er. Och vi har världens alla liberaler på vår sida! Säger vi: att vi försvarar oss eller att vi har en rätt att existera, så nickar de förstående.

Amira Hass berättar först om två mäns trakasserier. Och visst! Det går att säga att de bara är två stycken individer. Men:

"Harassment and sabotage of a much more serious nature than what we experienced has become routine for the Palestinian shepherds and farmers in the area. As a result, about 850 of the 3,500 or so inhabitants of the area known as Masafer Yatta (Yatta's periphery) have left their habitations, in caves and tent encampments. Sometimes it is their access to water sources that is damaged, sometimes their herds, other times themselves. They have piles of papers attesting to the police complaints they have submitted. Until they stopped filing complaints."

Och vidare: "It is easy to blame the two men, or those like them. But they practice terrorizing Palestinians because Israeli authorities let them do so. In their own way, they do the same thing the "legitimate" occupation authorities do: They drive the Palestinians off their land to make room for Jews. In other words, they are following orders. "

Så hur lyckas man få liberalerna med sig? De blundar medvetet. "......There is a huge gap between what is said because we want to hear it (local withdrawals, easing of travel restrictions, removal of one checkpoint out of 20, a change of tone) and what is being done on the ground, which we don't want to see (interlinking of settlements, construction of bridges and tunnels, encirclement of Palestinian towns, expropriation of land, destruction of houses). Some would describe that gap as duplicity, others as ambiguity. The gradual encroachment happens out of sight of the cameras, without causing a stir and without an explicit colonial diktat. Nobody makes a formal complaint, even supposing they can find out what's going on - difficult if you haven't grown up locally. Israeli maps and school textbooks refer to the West Bank as Judea and Samaria and, following the Knesset's recent rejection of a proposal from a Labour education minister, obliteration of the 1967 green line is now a legal fait accompli."

Och nej. Det är ingenting nytt. Det är en gammal framgångsrik taktik. Det är inga hemligheter. Konflikten är trots allt välbevakad. Ingen konflikt är lika dokumenterad. Israels övergrepp är väldokumenterade. Men liberalerna fortsätter blunda. Ibland blir de optimistiska. Det är när de får för sig just att Israel gjort någonting som visar på god vilja samtidigt som palestinierna tvingats förödmjukats lite till.

Så liberaler säg mig: är det inte dags för Israel att i praktiken erkänna palestinernas, tja, rättigheter?
