Om Iran Och Anti-Semitism

I en kort artikel av Arshin Adib-Moghaddam (som jag för övrigt inte känner till) postad hos Monthly Review beskrivs Irans historiska koppling till judendom och judar.

Ahmadinejad beskrivs som en ointelligent och otypisk karaktär för det iranska styret. Men, samtidigt visar artikeln på vad som saknas i debatten om Iran. Iran är en grym diktatur: det är sant och visst, och med en gammalmodig, konservativ och kvinnofientlig syn på kvinnor, men dess anti-semitiska drag har överdrivits, dels genom regelrätta lögner, dels genom en mer eller mindre medveten sammanblandning av kritik mot Israel med anti-semitism men också genom oproportionerligt mycket fokus på en man och hans ord.

"I do not think it an exaggeration to place Ahmadinejad in the same category as Bush and Berlusconi. All three represent that type of politician that adhere to a dichotomous worldview: things are either black or white, good or bad, you are either with them or against them."

Iran har dessutom en minoritet judar som är integrerade i samhället. Deras lojalitet är inte nödvändigtvis till Israel.

It should be added that, in August of last year, the "Association of the Iranian Jewish Community" and the management of the Jewish hospital "Sepir" in Tehran facilitated the medical support to Palestinians wounded by Israeli armed forces during the latest intifadah against the occupation.

..Och så det som i mitt tycke är oerhört viktigt men som liberalerna i europa vägrar att förstå, av rent politiska skäl, och inte intellektuella:

"Anti-Semitism" is a distinctively European invention, and projecting its ideological tenets and political agenda to the Muslim world is intellectually unrewarding and analytically flawed. This is not to say that there are no anti-Jewish sentiments in the region. There are, but they are not racially motivated. They are political in nature. The equivalent to the attitudes of Ahmadinejad exists in many countries today as a consequence, in my opinion, of both the resurgence of ultra-nationalist ideologies which are always intrinsically xenophobic and the continued occupation of Palestinian territories by the Israeli state.

Men, nog är Ahmadinejad anti-semit, och nog kan det finnas anti-semitism som inte alltid syns. Att tolerera en minoritet betyder inte att man även accepterar och uppskattar den.
